Pledge Your Support for Increased PCF Funding & Arts Education!
Since 1991, the Philadelphia Cultural Fund has provided vital funding for our city’s arts & culture organizations. These groups are part of a vibrant cultural sector which plays a significant role in strengthening our economy, enhancing a sense of place and community for our residents, and educating our youth. Philadelphia is also continuously recognized internationally as a world-class cultural destination, and attracts millions of tourists and visitors each year. Yet even as our rich cultural scene continues to grow and accolades pour in from across the globe, since 2010 the City has let the Philadelphia Cultural Fund operate under a slashed budget.
As City Council works to finalize and approve the budget for FY2015, we ask that you urge them to be champions for arts & culture by signing our petition to restore funding for the Philadelphia Cultural Fund back to its 2010 level of $3.2 million.
With an increase in funding, PCF would be able to reinstate its Youth Arts Enrichment Grants, which provided project support for arts-education programs serving K-12 students in the Philadelphia School District. The goals of PCF’s Youth Arts Enrichment Grants were to provide high-quality arts instruction, training and participatory experiences that serve youth most unlikely to have access to cultural enrichment in their lives in other ways.
As school budget cuts force schools to eliminate existing arts programs, cultural organizations are playing an increasing role in arts education. The Philadelphia Cultural Fund provides cultural groups in every neighborhood of the city with vital operating support for all of their activities, including educational outreach. Enter your zip code to sign the petition and urge City Council to restore PCF funding and bring back the Youth Arts Enrichment Grants!
